OCLC Researchが、WorldCatのデータから、図書館に所蔵されている長い長編小説のリストと、短編集のリスト“The Long and the Short of Libraries”を作成し、“What in the WorldCat?”のコーナーで公開しています。Wikipediaに掲載されている長編小説のリスト“list of longest novels”(50万ワード以上の小説のリスト)と、“WorldCat Genres”の短編集の情報に触発されて作成したものだそうです。
なお、“What in the WorldCat?”のコーナーは、WorldCatのデータから得られるユニークな情報を掲載しており、2014年になってから、2月には“Top 10 Love Stories in Libraries”、3月には“Top 10 Alien Abductions in Libraries”、4月には“Top Jazz Artists in Libraries”のリストをそれぞれ公開しています。
