2024年4月24日、欧州図書館・情報・ドキュメンテーション協会連合（EBLIDA）ら欧州の図書館関係団体が、2024年の欧州議会選挙に向けた共同マニフェスト「持続可能な未来のための図書館」（“Libraries for a sustainable future”）を発表しました。
EBLIDA、欧州研究図書館協会（LIBER）、国際図書館連盟（IFLA）、非営利団体Public Libraries 2030（PL2030）、国際的なNGO組織National Authorities on Public Libraries in Europe（NAPLE Forum）の5団体の連名によるものです。
マニフェストでは、欧州の持続可能な未来の実現のために図書館が主に貢献できることとして、「文化と教育への公平なアクセスの保証」「活力ある民主主義を支えること」「包括的なイノベーションの推進」「欧州の記憶の守護者となること」「グローバルな発展の推進」の5点を挙げており、各項目ごとに欧州議会議員が取り組むべき具体的事項を提言しています。
