カナダ図書館協会（CLA）が、2012年5月2日付けで、カナダ政府の予算削減による政府機関図書館およびカナダ国立図書館・文書館（LAC）への影響に対して声明を発表しています。それによると、LACでは、430人の職員に対して解雇予告がなされており、同館の労働力の20％相当が削減されることになるそうです。また、資料費削減やILLサービスの終了等についても触れており、予算削減はカナダ国民の情報アクセスに対して悪影響を及ぼすとしています。（このうち、ILLについては、2012年5月7日付けでCLAによる補足情報が出ており、LACの現行のILLサービスは2013年2月15日で終了するものの、後継サービスが予定されており、その詳細については2012年秋に発表されるとのことです。） 本件についてはThe Vancouver Sun等新聞各紙でも報じられており、また、カナダ大学教員協会（CAUT）による“Save Library & Archives Canada”という支援サイトも立ち上げられています。
