下院において4月26日にサイバーセキュリティに関する法案Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA)が通過したことにつづき、上院でもサイバーセキュリティ関係の法案（the Cyber Security Act of 2012 (S. 2105) および the SECURE IT Act (S. 2151)）が検討されています。これらの法案に対して、ALA（米国図書館協会）、ARL（北米研究図書館協会）等が、情報自由法（FOIA）への制限等の点に関し懸念を表明しています。
