英国図書館（BL）は、修復が必要な貴重書について資料単位で寄付を募る試み“Adopt a Book”（本を養子に）の第2弾を開始しました。第1弾は2006年のバレンタインデーを機に行っており、今回はクリスマスを機に行うものです。
寄付にはランク付けがあり、
・25ポンド（約5,600円）・・・寄付者と本のタイトルを記した証明書がもらえる
・75ポンド（約16,800円）・・・さらに、BL見学ツアー（2名用）のバウチャーがもらえる
・150ポンド（約33,700円）・・・さらに、選んだ本に寄贈者の名前入りブックプレート（蔵書票）が永久に挟まれる
・250ポンド（約56,000円）・・・さらに、「BLの裏側」に特別招待され選んだ本とコンサベーターに出会える
・500ポンド（約112,000円）・・・さらに、BLの“List of Conservation”に名前が刻まれる
という特典がついています。
