2016年5月5日、英国のトリニティー・ミラー社が2016年2月29日に創刊した新聞“The New Day”が5月6日をもって廃刊とすることを発表しました。
“The New Day”は、全国紙の日刊紙で、新聞が購入されなくなっているのは、新聞というフォーマットの問題ではなく、読者のニーズに沿っていないからであるとされ、現代の読者の生活スタイルにあわせた新聞として、英国では30年ぶりに創刊されたものです。
トリニティー・ミラー社によると、同紙を支持するレビューがあったり、Facebook上で根強い支持を得たりしていたものの、発行部数が期待外れであったため、廃刊に至ったとしています。
