2026年8月27日、米国の大学等による共同リポジトリ事業“HathiTrust”が、メロン財団から5年間で助成金500万ドルを受領し、プロジェクト“Transparent Books: AI Infrastructure for Discovery and the Public Interest”を実施することを発表しました。
同プロジェクトは、AIを活用し、HathiTrustの1,900万冊に及ぶデジタル化資料へのアクセス向上を目指すもので、デジタル・スカラシップに関する豊富な専門知識を持つノースイースタン大学図書館と、自らの著作を公共の利益に役立てたいと考える著者を支援する非営利団体Authors Allianceとの協力の下で進められるとされています。
