2025年7月1日、ニュージーランド国立図書館（NLNZ）とニュージーランド国立公文書館（Archives New Zealand）が、共同リーダーシップ（joint leadership）体制へ移行したと発表しました。
ニュージーランド国立図書館長とニュージーランド国立公文書館長が率いる新たな運営体制では、両館が緊密に連携し、両館のサービス、資源、専門知識への市民のアクセス向上を支援するとしています。両館の独立した機能は維持され、国立図書館長及び国立公文書館長の法的な責任にも変更はないとあります。
共同リーダーシップ体制への移行は2025年3月に発表されていたもので、公共部門再編の一環であると述べられています。なお、両館は、2025年から2026年にかけてウェリントンの国会議事堂近くの新建物へ移転することが予定されています。
