2012年6月20日、全米人文科学基金（NEH）と米国国立医学図書館（NLM）が、研究や教育等の分野での協力を行うと発表しました。これは、新たな研究テーマの開発と知識を共有すべく、人文学と生医学関係コミュニティに所属する研究者や図書館員、医者、文化遺産専門家とを結びつける取り組みを行うためとされています。
具体的には、以下の項目について連携するとのことです。
・特にデジタル人文学および医学史の領域における研究の相互関心を高めること
・カリキュラムや研修、インターンシップ等の学習機会を作り協力すること
・医学や健康に関するキャリアへつなぐ取り組みを行うこと
