2011年10月24-25日に、英国図書館（BL）において、大規模デジタル化におけるテキスト化処理の改善やノウハウの共有等を目指す欧州のプロジェクト“IMPACT”の最終カンファレンスが開催され、その席で欧州委員会（EC）情報社会・メディア総局（Information Society and Media Directorate General）のKhalil Rouhana氏が、“IMPACT”プロジェクトを引き継いだ、IMPACT Centre of Competenceの設立を発表したようです。IMPACT Centre of Competenceは、欧州の歴史的な印刷資料のデジタル化を、より高品質で、より早く、そしてより安く行なうこと、そしてデジタル化のワークフローに関わるツールやサービス、知識の共有等を目的とするようです。
