2011年5月4-5日に、欧州委員会（EC）の情報社会・メディア総局（Information Society and Media Directorate General）の主催で、デジタル資源の保存に関する国際ワークショップ“The Future of the Past — Shaping new visions for EU-research in digital preservation”がルクセンブルグで開催されました。欧米17か国の研究機関や文化施設から、デジタル保存に関する専門家61名を招いて行われたこのワークショップは、デジタル保存に関する今後の研究について意見を求めることを目的としていたようです。ワークショップでは、ECの「ICTプログラム」の支援を受けて行われたデジタル保存に関する成果報告や、デジタル保存の現状と今後をテーマとしたグループセッションも行われたようです。このワークショップの報告資料がECのウェブサイトで公開されています。また6月半ばには、“Research on Digital Preservation within projects co-funded by the European Union in the ICT programme”と題する報告書も、同ウェブサイトで公開される予定のようです。
