2011年1月19日に、国際医学生連盟（International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations；IFMSA）が、学術情報のオープンアクセスを求めて活動を行っている、大学生・大学院生による国際的なアドヴォカシー団体“Right to Research”に加盟したと発表しています。IFMSA代表のChijioke Kaduru氏は、「研究情報のオープンアクセスは、ヘルスケアのあらゆる局面に資するものである。必要不可欠な情報に簡単にアクセスできることで、ヘルスケアの分野で働く人々や研究者、医学生の知識を高めることになると考えている」等とコメントしています。
