2010年12月7日付けのKnowledge Speakの記事によると、英国の出版研究コンソーシアム（Publishing Research Consortium：PRC）が、研究者にとって重要な情報のタイプは何かについてまとめたレポートを公開したようです。これは、世界3,800人以上の研究者からの回答を基に作成されたもので、それによると、すべての研究分野において最も重要と考えられているのが学術雑誌であったとのことです。また、回答者の93％が、それら学術雑誌へのアクセスが「大変容易である」「やや容易である」と回答したのに対して、データセット等は、重要な情報のタイプとみなされながらも、アクセスが難しいと考えられていることが明らかになったようです。
