2010年9月30日、スペイン王立アカデミー（Real Academia Española）は、YouTubeと協力し、『ドン・キホーテ』全編を朗読するプロジェクト“El Quijote en YouTube”を公開しました。これは、2,149の部分に分割された『ドン・キホーテ』全編を参加者が協力して一部分ずつ朗読し、その朗読の様子を収録した動画をYouTubeの特設ページで公開するものです。このプロジェクトは、YouTube上でのスペイン語の普及を目的としているとのことです。朗読には、スペイン語を話すことのできる14歳以上でYouTubeのアカウントを持っている人なら、国籍も母国語も問わず自由に参加できるとのことで、王立アカデミーはこの試みを「El Quijote 2.0」と呼び、参加者を求めています。
