米国におけるインターネットの社会的影響について調査を行っているPew Internet & American Life Projectの創設者・代表者Lee Rainie氏が、2009年3月30日の“Computers in Libraries”会議で、「図書館が人々の社会的ネットワークの結節点になれる理由（Friending Libraries: Why libraries can become nodes in people’s social networks）」と題したプレゼンテーションを行っています。これは、Pewの調査結果をもとに、情報利用行動によって人々をカテゴライズし、各々のカテゴリーの特徴を踏まえ、その人々に対して図書館はどのように結節点になり得るかを展望したものです。
