英国では、男の子の41％が「読書は退屈だ」と考えているそうで、こうした男の子（9歳以上）にもっと本を読んでもらうためのプロジェクト、その名も“Project X”をオックスフォード出版が開始しました。これは、男の子が好むようなストーリー、キャラクターを配した冒険小説を刊行していくというもので、2,000名の男の子に調査を行って作られました。ただ専門家の中には、男の子たちの受けが良いように3DのCGでイラストが描かれていること、中身が浅薄であることを批判する人もいるようです。
