E2411e – Release of a Video Related to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in Partnership with a Local Television Station

On January 14, 2021, on the 26th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, Kobe University Library (hereafter "the Library") released a video titled "The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake" in the digital archive of the Library's Earthquake Disaster Materials Collection (see CA1853). The video was filmed and produced by a local TV station Sun Television on June 29, 1995. This article describes the background to the release of the video and discusses future issues.

E1886e – Status of Libraries in the Aftermath of 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake

Major damage has been caused by series of earthquakes that occurred on April 14 and 16, 2016 in Kumamoto Prefecture. The epicenter was Kumamoto region of Kumamoto Prefecture, and the seismic intensity of these earthquakes were seven. Based on information through February 22, 2017, this article reports situations of libraries within Kumamoto Prefecture in need of time to recover from damage caused by the earthquake.

An earthquake with its epicenter in Central Tottori that struck on October 21, 2016 caused wide range of damages. This report presents status of libraries impacted by this earthquake based on information available up to December 7, 2016.
