2016年2月10日、オバマ大統領が、マラケシュ条約（盲人，視覚障害者及び読字障害者の出版物へのアクセス促進のためのマラケシュ条約）への批准について「助言と同意」を求めるため米国上院に教書（Message）を提出しました。
米国は2013年10月にマラケシュ条約に署名しています。
