英国情報システム合同委員会（JISC）が、英国図書館（BL）と共同で委託して行った「Google世代」の情報行動に関する調査（E745参照）の結果を受けて、大学・研究図書館の課題と将来像について幅広く議論しようというキャンペーン“Libraries of the Future”を立ち上げました。このキャンペーンに際しては、研究図書館の中に含まれるBLやウェールズ国立図書館の館長、さらにはOCLCの欧州地域ディレクターなどもメッセージを寄せています。
またガーディアン紙の別冊“Education Guardian”とタイアップして、同誌に、デジタルの潮流で変化し続けている大学・研究図書館の活動を紹介する特集“Libraries unleashed”を掲載しています。学習の場の提供、Library 2.0、ビジネスモデル、デジタル化、新しい利用者の特徴、図書館司書の変わり行く役割などがトピックとして扱われています。
