米国図書館協会（ALA）のバーガー（Leslie Burger）会長は、「図書館がコミュニティを変える」（Libraries Transform Communities）を会長として実践するテーマとして掲げており、これを実現するために、国家レベルの行動計画・政策（Agenda）を作る必要があるとしています。12月10日・11日、そのための第一歩として、ALAのスタッフ、OCLC、IMLS、図書館の館長、図書館コンサルタント、出版社代表から下院議員まで、有識者・関係者を集めた“National Library Agenda Summit”がワシントンD.C.で開催されました。
