Googleの協力を得て2005年から進められている米国議会図書館（LC）のWorld Digital Libraryプロジェクトですが、著作権の問題やGoogleとLCとの目的の違いなどから、同プロジェクトをLCの業務の中核に（目録・分類業務と同格として）すえることは疑問である、という意見があります。
