米空軍科学研究局（The Air Force Office of Scientific Research）は、Brian Ulicny博士らがおこなうブログの研究”Automated Ontologically-Based Link Analysis of International Web Logs for the Timely Discovery of Relevant and Credible Information”に対して、3年間で約45万ドル（約5,100万円）の助成をおこなうと発表しました。
ブログでは他のブログやサイトからハイパーリンクを作成していますが、このリンクが学術文献における引用と同じような機能を果たしていて、ブロガーが最も重要だと考えていることを推測でき、ひいては情報分析の研究に有益な結果をもたらすのでは、とUlicny博士は考えているそうです。
