2016年12月12日、カナダ研究図書館協会（CARL）・オーストラリア大学図書館員協議会（CAUL）・欧州研究図書館協会（LIBER）・英国研究図書館コンソーシアム（RLUK）によって2016年に結成された、大学・研究図書館協会の国際的な連合体である“ International Alliance of Research Library Associations” (IARLA) が、ISSN国際センターと英・国立データセンターEDINAによる声明“Working Together to Ensure the Future of the Digital Scholarly Record”を支持すると発表しました。
同声明は、デジタル学術情報の長期保存とアクセス保障に関する課題に取り組むために必要な行動を概説し、出版社・研究図書館・国立図書館のアーカイブと保存に関する取組みにおいて推奨される一連の活動を示したものです。
これに伴いIARLAでは、会員館の課題に対する理解と下記の行動を促進・支援すると述べています。
・専門知識により、消失のリスクがある重要なコンテンツのタイトルと分野の特定及びそれらコンテンツの保存の優先付
・設置母体の大学が発行したジャーナルのアーカイブの保証
・出版社と購読契約交渉中のジャーナルの保存について議論
