2014年5月7日、ニューヨーク公共図書館（NYPL）のスティーブン・A・シュワルツマン図書館（Stephen A. Schwarzman Building）改修計画について、軌道修正されることが、一斉に報じられています。
同計画ではシュワルツマン図書館にミッドマンハッタン分館と科学・産業・ビジネス図書館（Science, Industry and Business Library）の資料を移し、貸出機能を持たせるなどの内容が示されていましたが、代わって、現在シュワルツマン図書館にほど近いミッドマンハッタン分館（Mid-Manhattan Library）を改修する案が検討されているようです。またシュワルツマン図書館の利用者スペースの拡大については、子ども向けの新しいスペースや研究者やライターのためのエリアなどが検討されているようです。
