シカゴ建築・デザイン博物館（The Chicago Athenaeum）等が毎年行っている国際建築賞2011（International Architecture Awards 2011）が2011年7月21日に発表され、このうち、岩手県の大船渡市民文化会館・市立図書館が授賞しています。他に授賞した図書館関連の建築としては、カナダのJasper Place Branch Library、ベルギーのDendermonde Library Social Restaurant and Multifunctional Space、オーストラリアのSurry Hills Library and Community Centreの3館があるようです。
