Shanti Volunteer Association, a public interest incorporated association (hereafter Shanti), terminated its “Mobile Library Project in Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima” in July 2017. This article presents the summary of the project as well as future activities.

E1886e - Status of Libraries in the Aftermath of 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake

Major damage has been caused by series of earthquakes that occurred on April 14 and 16, 2016 in Kumamoto Prefecture. The epicenter was Kumamoto region of Kumamoto Prefecture, and the seismic intensity of these earthquakes were seven. Based on information through February 22, 2017, this article reports situations of libraries within Kumamoto Prefecture in need of time to recover from damage caused by the earthquake.

E1864e - Impact on Libraries by the Earthquake with Epicenter in Central Tottori

An earthquake with its epicenter in Central Tottori that struck on October 21, 2016 caused wide range of damages. This report presents status of libraries impacted by this earthquake based on information available up to December 7, 2016.

E1834e - Long Road to Preservation and Utilization of Materials: In Response to the Kumamoto Earthquake

On July 3, 2016, Network for Historical Materials (hereafter Shiryo Net, see CA1743) hosted a symposium “Long Way to Preservation and Utilization of Materials: Kumamoto Earthquake (資料保全と活用の長い道のり―熊本地震によせて―)” at Umeda Intelligent Laboratory of Kobe University in Osaka City. Sixty people participated. As one of the organizers, I will summarize in this report issues discussed at the symposium.
