マックスプランクデジタルライブラリ（Max Planck Digital Library）が中心となって、電子出版ツールのプラットフォームを開発するプロジェクトCARPET (Community for Academic Reviewing, Publishing and Editorial Technology)がドイツで始まっています。
ドイツ研究協会（DFG）の助成を受け、マックスプランクのほか、ベルリン大学、ゲッティンゲン州立・大学図書館、Open-access.netなどがパートナーとなって進めています。
