「まず人々を笑わせ、次いで考えさせる業績」に対して、毎年授与されているイグノーベル賞（Ig Nobel Prize）の2007年の文学賞に、オーストラリアのライブラリアン（現在はフリーランスの“indexer”“designer”とのことです）、ブラウン（Glenda Browne）氏が行った冠詞“The”の排列に関する研究“The Definite Article: Acknowledging ‘The’ in Index Entries”が選ばれています。授賞式は10月にハーバード大学で行われ、ブラウン氏も“THE”と書かれたTシャツを着て記念スピーチを行っていますが、このほど、この研究論文が掲載誌“The Indexer”のウェブサイトで公開されました。
