2018年5月29日、Clarivate Analytics社が、エジプト政府による電子図書館・オンラインのナレッジハブであるEgyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) と連携し、初のアラビア語の引用索引“Arabic Citation Index (ARCI)”を開発すると発表しました。2030年までの知識経済への転換を目標とするエジプト政府のビジョンの一環として2020年に公開予定です。
ARCIはEKBの助成により構築され、Web of Scienceのアラビア語インターフェイスを導入するとともに、アラビア語の雑誌等から専門的に選定された学術論文の書誌情報や引用情報へのアクセスを提供します。
ARCIは、Web of Scienceに基づいた地域別の引用索引としては、Chinese Science Citation Database、SciELO Citation Index、Russian Science Citation Index、KCI-Korean Journal Databaseに次いで5番目となります。
