2016年8月の米国ニューヨーク州にあるオリーブ・フリー図書館が発行するニュースレターで、同館にミツバチを観察でき、ミツバチについての解説画面も付いたガラス張りの巣箱が完成したことが報じられています。
この巣箱は地元のボーイスカウトBlake Overton氏によるEagle Scoutプロジェクトで作成していたもので、同館では2014年から毎月養蜂を支援するためのグループの会合も開催されていました。
巣箱はミツバチについて図書館利用者に知ってもらおうというこの教育目的のために作成されたもので、Blake Overton氏は作成のためにCADを学びました。2014年に巣箱作成のための資金集めを行い、2015年に作成され、完成の運びとなったようです。
