2015年1月16日のGoogle Earthのブログで、シンガポール国立大学図書館による、Google Earthのプラグインの活用事例が紹介されています。Google Earthの画像を利用するのではなく、Google Earthの3Dエンジンを活用して、図書館内を3Dイメージで表示させており、珍しい取組みとのことです。この取組みは、2008年から行われてきたとの事です。
シンガポール国立大学図書館のウェブサイトによると、Google Earthのプラグインをダウンロードすると、同大学の6つの図書館について、館内を3Dイメージで表示することができ、また、OPACで利用したい資料の請求記号をクリックすると、どの棚にあるかが3Dで表示される機能などもあるようです。医学図書館分については、iPadのアプリも公開しているようです。
