フィラデルフィアの学校とフィラデルフィア図書館がデータベースをマージし、同館の図書館カードを所持していない生徒に、カードを配るプログラムを開始したようです。2014年4月15日には、Michael Nutter市長らが、小学校を訪れ、最初の配布を行ったとのことで、同日付けで報じられています。報道によると、データのマージにより、同地域の136,000人の生徒のうち、およそ98,000人が図書館カードを持っていないことが確認されたそうです。
なお、フィラデルフィア市では、経済状況が悪化した2008年に図書館の予算を4,100万ドルから800万ドル削減し、117名分のポジションを削減すし、分館の開館時間を短縮するなどするなどしていました。同市はこの状況から脱すべく、Michael Nutter市長が、250万ドル増とすることを提案しているそうです。
