2013年8月18日、国際図書館連盟（IFLA）が、年次大会において、トレンドレポート（Trend Report）を公表しました。このレポートは、2011年12月にIFLAの運営理事会（Governing Board）が運営委員会を設置し、専門家等による協議の結果、作成されたものとのことです。全てのステークホルダーがデジタル時代における図書館の役割をより理解できるように手助けするための、有益な資料を、図書館員等に提示するものとしています。
大きく5つにまとめられたトレンドの簡略情報が、8月14日に公開されたトレンド1から順次提供されていました。
