2013年5月22日、英国図書館（BL）は、ジョン・レノン直筆の手紙や「Strawberry Fields Forever」の歌詞等がBLに寄贈されたことを発表しました。今回の寄贈は、イングランド芸術評議会（Arts Council England：ACE）によって施行された”Cultural Gifts Scheme”に基づいたものです。”Cultural Gifts Scheme”とは、英国民あるいは英国の利益になる重要な芸術作品や文化遺産を英国に寄贈した英国納税者が、減税措置を受けられる政策です。
BLの発表によると、今回の寄贈を行った、ビートルズの公式伝記の著者でコレクターのHunter Davies氏は、氏のビートルズコレクションが一か所にまとまった形で一般公開されることを望んでおり、BLは申し分のない場所であると述べているとのことです。
