英国の文化・メディア・スポーツ省が公表した、2009/2010年版の文化やスポーツ活動に関する統計によると、この1年に図書館を利用した大人（16歳以上）の割合は39.4%で、48.2%であった2005/2006年以降、年々低下を続けているとのことです。一方、5-10歳では77.9%、11-15歳では71.6%と、比較的高い割合となっています。
