バーチャル本棚を作成・共有できるソーシャルブックサイト“LibraryThing”に、1963年時点のホワイトハウス図書室の蔵書およそ1700冊のデータがまとめられています。これは、当時のケネディ大統領の依頼に基づきイェール大学図書館のBabb氏が中心となり選書したもので、現在もほぼ受け継がれているもののようです。なお、この一覧がLibraryThingに掲載された背景には、現在のオバマ大統領の図書室に社会主義の図書があることを話題にした人がいたものの、実はそれらの本は1963年から備え付けられていたものであった、ということがあったようです。
