北米研究図書館協会（ARL）は、2009年5月14日、ARLのメンバー図書館における資料保存の現状と今後への提言をまとめた報告書“Safeguarding Collections at the Dawn of the 21st Century”を公表しました。報告書の主なテーマは、「研究図書館における保存機能を再形成する」「ネットワーク化されたデジタル環境」「図書館間の協力の戦略」の3つとなっています。
